Lakewood’s Mixed-Use Anchor District
Lakewood Towne Center sits at the heart of Lakewood — the city’s central retail-plus-residential district, anchored by a mall that’s been redeveloped more times than anyone can keep straight. Surrounding it: dense apartments, condos, small commercial, and the property-management infrastructure that keeps it all running. It’s a high-turnover neighborhood — leases come and go, tenants change, units need cleanouts, and the truck routes get used a lot.
What Hoss Does in the Towne Center Area
We work both sides of this district:
Residential — single-item pickups, apartment cleanouts, end-of-lease haul-aways, downsizing for the condo crowd, post-move junk.
Commercial — retail tenant turnovers, post-construction cleanups for the small businesses that come and go, office cleanouts, property-management hauls.
Apartments & multifamily — we coordinate with property management for unit turnovers, common-area cleanups, and yard cleanouts. Roll-off dumpsters drop where you have parking-lot access; junk hauling on foot for tight-stairwell jobs.
Posted Pricing
Same flat-rate, posted prices for residential and commercial work. See the pricing section for current numbers. No upsell, no surprise fees.
About Lakewood Towne Center
Lakewood Towne Center sits at 5731 Main Street SW, owned and managed by Kite Realty Group. The current footprint is an open-air “power center” of roughly 58 stores — the format that replaced the enclosed Lakewood Mall after it was demolished in 2001.
Current anchor and major tenants include Safeway, AMC Theatres, Crunch Fitness, Barnes & Noble (planning to relocate within the center), plus a deep restaurant lineup (Red Robin, Panda Express, Chipotle, MOD Pizza) and a Wells Fargo branch. Bed Bath & Beyond closed in 2022 as part of that retailer’s national wind-down.
Active redevelopment. In February 2025, the Lakewood Hearing Examiner approved the Lakewood Towne Center Apartments — 309 market-rate units (one 5-story building and seven 3-story buildings) on a 34.11-acre site, replacing the existing Barnes & Noble building and a large parking lot. The plan includes 473 parking spaces and 40,132 sq ft of open space with a pool, clubhouse, and playground. Construction starts once site and building permits are issued.
The Towne Center sits inside Lakewood’s broader Downtown Subarea Plan, which targets 2,250+ new attached housing units (mostly mixed-use) over the long term. Roughly two miles north of JBLM’s Madigan/North Gate, with Pierce Transit routes converging on the center.
