A Puyallup Residential Pocket
The Shaw Road corridor is a recognized east-Puyallup area — a mix of established single-family neighborhoods, newer construction infill, and the kind of streets you take when you don’t want to deal with downtown Puyallup traffic. Lots of family-density housing, decent driveways, and the steady-state cleanout-as-you-go rhythm of a settled suburb.
About the Shaw Road Area
The Shaw Road area runs along Shaw Road E, climbing the eastern hillside of Puyallup (ZIPs 98372/98374) up onto the South Hill plateau. The road is named for the Shaw family, who settled a 15-acre farm near Meeker Junction in 1901; Shaw Road itself was first petitioned in 1914 and completed around 1920.
Long-time agricultural backbone of East Puyallup that has steadily filled in with residential development. Current housing is a mix of 1970s–80s homes, 1990s–2000s expansions, and newer builds — often on larger lots than you’d find closer to downtown Puyallup. Known for mature trees, Mount Rainier views, and a quieter, family-oriented suburban feel inside the Puyallup School District.
