About Hoss Dumpsters
We rent two sizes: a 14-yard and a 20-yard. That’s it. We don’t stock 6 different sizes because most residential and small-commercial jobs in Pierce County only need one of these two. Less choosing for you, faster scheduling for us, lower prices than the national franchises.
Both bins are roll-off style, driveway-friendly, low-profile, with rear swing-doors so heavy items walk in instead of going over the side.
Exploring Hoss’s Two Sizes
The 14-Yard Dumpster — An Overview
- Capacity: ~14 cubic yards, includes ~3,500 lbs disposal
- Approximate dimensions: 12′ L × 8′ W × 4′ H
- Price: starts at flat-rate 5-day rental
- Best for: garage cleanouts, small remodels (kitchen or bathroom), roofing tear-offs, yard debris, basement purges, mid-size estate cleanouts, post-construction debris
- Typical fit: standard residential driveway, swing-doors face the rear
The 20-Yard Dumpster — An Overview
- Capacity: ~20 cubic yards, includes ~4,000 lbs disposal
- Approximate dimensions: 14′ L × 8′ W × 5′ H
- Price: starts at flat-rate 5-day rental
- Best for: whole-house cleanouts, major renovations (multi-room), estate haul-aways, large commercial cleanups, big yard projects
- Typical fit: standard residential driveway, still low-profile
Disposal starts at the disposal rate on overages (same flat rate for both sizes).
Determining the Right Size for Your Needs
Quick rule of thumb:
- Single room or small project: 14-yard, easy.
- Multi-room or full-house: 20-yard.
- Heavy debris (concrete, dirt, roofing): weight matters more than volume. Call us.
- Long-term project: standard 5-day rental; we extend for daily rates.
When in doubt, ask. After enough Pierce County driveways we’ve gotten pretty good at sizing the job from a quick description.
Typical Projects Ideal for a 14-Yard Dumpster
- Garage cleanout (single-car or partial double)
- Small kitchen remodel (cabinets, fixtures, drywall)
- Bathroom remodel
- Roofing tear-off (residential)
- Basement purge
- Yard cleanup (post-windstorm, seasonal)
- 1-2 bedroom move
Typical Projects Ideal for a 20-Yard Dumpster
- Whole-house cleanout (3+ bedroom)
- Major remodel (multi-room, gut renovation)
- Estate cleanout (full property)
- Large commercial cleanout
- Larger construction project
- Multiple roof tear-offs
Additional Information
Do I need a permit? Not on private property. On the street, Pierce County (and most cities) require a permit; we can advise.
Weight rated dumpsters? Yes — included weight in pricing, starts at the disposal rate overage. Concrete, dirt, and heavy roofing weigh more than they look.
What if I misjudge? No problem. If you ordered the 14 and need more space, we can swap for a 20 (or just add a second 14). If you ordered the 20 and only filled half, you still get the posted rate — we don’t refund unused volume.
How long is your construction project? Standard 5-day rental. Extend by the day at/day. Multi-week projects: ask about weekly/monthly rates.
Will the dumpster damage my pavement? We use boards under the wheels. Damage on standard residential concrete or asphalt is rare; we’ve done thousands of drops.
What’s the best way to load? Heaviest items first, on the bottom. Distribute weight evenly front-to-back. Don’t fill above the rim.
How to avoid weight penalties? Mix heavy and light. Don’t fill a bin entirely with concrete or dirt — those are 2-3× the typical density of household debris.
